Rescue fund applications - supporting information
The North of England Rat Society rescue fund is the result of fundraising by and on behalf of NERS members to support rat rescue within the UK.
Aims of the rescue fund:
- To support rat rescue in the UK.
- To encourage the best possible standards of care for rats whilst in rescue organisations (especially those not dedicated to rat rescue).
- To promote appropriate interventions (for example castration) that will enable a rat to be homed quickly and with company.
Applications can be made to access the fund by any individual or rescue organisation. This applies to rescues that are not dedicated to rats, but the equipment/medication/treatment requested must be specifically for rats.
Where equipment/food/bedding is requested this will generally be purchased by the society and presented to the rescue.
Where claims relate to veterinary treatments an invoice or receipt from the practice will be required.
The fund is a limited resource and applications will be considered as fairly as possible to benefit the maximum number of rats.
Completing the application form
An application will only be considered where all the requested contact details are provided, and the application form declaration is signed. Completing the online application will speed up the processing of your application but you will still be asked to sign the declaration when you send your invoice or receipt.
Please make all requests as detailed and specific as possible.
When requesting funds for equipment, food or bedding please be as specific as possible about the items requested, including manufacturer’s details and the size or amount of the item required.
When requesting funds for veterinary treatment please include details of whether the treatment has already been carried out or not, including dates.
