Membership
The members of the NERS are its greatest asset, and we try to provide excellent value for money to our membership. As seen from the benefits of membership the society aims to provide a package that is appealing to rat lovers regardless of whether they are interested in showing their rats or not.
Benefits of yearly membership include:
- NERS Joining pack (welcome letter, complementary copy of Rattitude, rules and varieties booklet and a little something for you and your ratties too).
- Rattitude. Bi-monthly, 32 page, A5 newsletter with a wide range of new and informative articles as well as society news and information.
- Annual Report.
- Right to a voice and a vote on how the society evolves, by post if preferred.
- Easy access to member breeders.
- Support and advice via the members-only forum.
- NERS Longevity award.
- NERS calendar.
- NERS Championship awards.
- Reduced show entry rates.
- Loan service (items such as live/humane rat trap, books).
Membership information
There are four categories of membership:
- Adult (age 16 and over). All adult members are entitled to one vote at any AGM/EGM.
- Junior (under 16). Junior members can voice their opinions and ideas but are not entitled to vote.
- Family (any family group or partnership living under one roof). Family memberships are entitled to one vote for each adult member listed on their application form.
- Concessionary (student/OAP). These members are entitled to one vote at any AGM/EGM.
Annual fees for these categories:
- £14
- £11
- £18
- £11
There is also a joining fee to (cover initial administration costs) of £2
How to join the NERS
We hope that you will decide to join the NERS and help us to promote rats as wonderful pets.
You will need to complete and return by post an application form. This form requires Acrobat reader (free downloadable software).

If you would like to join online you should use the PayPal facility making the payment using the payment@neratsociety email address. You will need to add an extra £1 to your subscription to cover PayPal fees.
